Cherry wood caskets showcase one of nature’s most beautiful tributes with warm reddish tones that deepen over time. This premium hardwood is prized for its smooth grain, rich color, and elegant appearance that rivals fine furniture. Solid cherry caskets offer families a timeless choice that honors your loved one’s life with natural beauty and exceptional craftsmanship.
Handcrafted cherry caskets develop a richer patina as the wood ages, a unique characteristic that makes each piece increasingly beautiful. The grain is smooth and even, accepting polished finishes that bring out the wood’s natural luster. Cherry ranks among the more expensive wood options due to its beauty, durability, and the care required in its craftsmanship.
Sky Caskets offers cherry caskets priced from $1,995 to $4,995, representing significant savings compared to local funeral home prices. Our solid cherry caskets feature a quality velvet or crepe interior, decorative handles, and finishes ranging from polished gloss to satin. Next-day delivery to funeral homes ensures your casket arrives when needed.
Cherry wood naturally darkens and develops a richer reddish-brown patina when exposed to light, a process called photosensitivity. This means a cherry casket will deepen in color from its initial warm pink-brown to a richer, more distinguished hue. Many families appreciate this natural evolution as it adds character and depth to the wood’s already beautiful appearance.
Yes, cherry is a premium hardwood, alongside mahogany and walnut. Its smooth grain, warm color, and workability make it highly prized for fine furniture and casket construction. Cherry’s natural beauty and the skill required for proper finishing contribute to its status as a more expensive wood choice. The investment reflects both the wood’s quality and the craftsmanship involved.
Sky Caskets offers several cherry casket styles, including the Lincoln Red Cherry, Monticello Red Cherry (known as “The John Dutton Casket”), Presidential Cherry, and Executive Cherry. Each features solid cherry wood construction with distinctive design elements. Styles vary in corner treatments, hardware, and interior appointments, allowing families to select a fitting choice for their loved one.
Both cherry and mahogany are premium hardwoods with reddish tones, but they offer distinct characteristics. Cherry has a lighter, warmer hue that deepens over time, while mahogany maintains a consistent deep reddish-brown color. Mahogany typically has a finer grain, whereas cherry shows more variation. Both represent excellent choices for families seeking natural beauty and lasting quality.
