What does 20 gauge steel mean?

Gauge describes the thickness of the steel, and a lower number means thicker metal. 20 gauge is the most widely used thickness for steel caskets and is what most families choose. Heavier 18 gauge options are available if you want more substantial construction, and we can walk you through the difference before you decide.

How do I know a casket will fit the burial vault?

Most standard-size caskets fit standard burial vaults, but vault sizes vary by cemetery, so the exact numbers matter. The Orion Blue measures 83" long by 28" wide by 23.5" high on the outside. Give those figures to your funeral director or cemetery before you order and they will confirm the fit.

What are the exact dimensions and weight of the Orion Blue?

The exterior measures 83" long by 28" wide by 23.5" high. The interior measures 79.5" long by 23.5" wide. It weighs 180 lbs. These are standard 20 gauge dimensions, taken from the manufacturer's specifications rather than estimated.

What does the interior of the Orion Blue look like?

It is lined with a soft blue crepe that coordinates with the exterior finish rather than contrasting against it. Crepe is a matte, lightly textured fabric, so the inside reads calm and understated instead of glossy. The result is a single tone of blue carried through the whole casket.

How is the Orion Blue different from the other Orion caskets?

The Orion line is the same 20 gauge steel casket offered in several finishes. Orion Blue is the serene blue option, and the line also includes Orion Silver, Orion Blush, Orion Indigo and Orion Summit. Construction, dimensions and weight are the same across the line, so the choice between them comes down to color.

Does the Orion Blue arrive exactly as shown?

Yes. What you see on this page is what ships: the blue exterior, the blue crepe interior and the hardware pictured. If you are hoping for something different, whether that is another interior or a personalized design, call us before you order and we will talk through what is possible and what it costs.

Can I order the Orion Blue if the funeral is in a few days?

In most cases yes, and the Orion Blue is currently shown in stock. Short timelines are the normal case here rather than the exception. Call us with your service date before you place the order and we will confirm delivery against that date, so nothing is left to chance.
