What does 20 gauge steel mean?
Gauge describes the thickness of the steel, and a lower number means thicker metal. 20 gauge is the most widely used thickness for steel caskets and is what most families choose. Heavier 18 gauge options are available if you want more substantial construction, and we can walk you through the difference before you decide.
Most standard-size caskets fit standard burial vaults, but vault sizes vary by cemetery, so the exact numbers matter. The Princess measures 83" long by 28" wide by 23.5" high on the outside. Give those figures to your funeral director or cemetery before you order and they will confirm the fit.
The exterior measures 83" long by 28" wide by 23.5" high. The interior measures 79.5" long by 23.5" wide. It weighs 180 lbs. These are standard 20 gauge dimensions, taken from the manufacturer's specifications rather than estimated.
The exterior is a soft blush pink rather than a strong pink, closer to a warm off-white in most light, finished with platinum-toned handles and trim. Inside is a pink crepe lining with a pleated sunburst panel set into the lid. Crepe is a matte, lightly textured fabric, so the effect is gentle rather than glossy.
