Couldn't be more impressed with the service that was provided. My siblings and I searched everywhere for a very specific casket for our late veteran father. Matthew went above and beyond to put together exactly what we were looking for. Truly grateful for how accommodating Sky Caskets has been in such a stressful and difficult time.

FAQs: United States Army-20 Gauge Steel

What does 20 gauge steel mean on a casket?
Gauge measures the thickness of the steel, and a lower number means thicker metal. A 20 gauge casket is the most widely chosen steel option in the United States, offering solid protection and a finished appearance at a more accessible price than heavier gauges.
Crepe is a soft fabric with a lightly textured, gently gathered surface. It is a traditional interior choice because it drapes softly and gives the interior a calm, comfortable look under the lighting used at a service.
The United States Army seal is set into the interior lid panel, with matching service emblems worked into the handle hardware along both sides.
The exterior is a navy blue finish and the interior is a white crepe. The Army seal on the lid panel sits against that white interior.
It is designed for an Army service member or veteran. Families honoring service in another branch will find the matching casket for that branch in the same range.
It weighs about 180 pounds empty. That is a normal weight for a 20 gauge steel casket and is typically carried by six pallbearers, which is worth mentioning to your funeral director when they plan the service.
No. This casket ships as shown, with the Army seal and service emblems exactly as pictured. It is a standard catalog casket rather than a made to order one.
